Hello all - Happy New Year!! I hope everyone made a safe and joyous transition into 2009. Above are my beautiful sons, who both came home to visit their mom for the holiday. The top photo is me and my son Louis, who just turned 21 (on Halloween, 08) and he is currently a junior at the University of Minnesota. He is the Kappa man, Kavity.
The second photo is my eldest, Otis. He is about to turn 24 (January, 09) and he recently graduated from Carroll College in Waukesha, WI with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Marketing. He is a Sales Rep. for Adidas/Reebok Sports License Division and he is on the rise as a young Entrepreneur. He manages the Kohl's account, East Bay, and assists his boss with the hugest account - Green Bay Packers!
I am just too proud of my young men - I did a fine job raising them as a single mother, if I do say so myself.
I hope everyone has a safe and prosperous year - all will be fine in 2009!

Hey, Hey, Hey!! I can't believe it's been almost a year since I have posted up. There has been a lot going on in my neck of the woods, literally woods!! lol I was involved in a car accident June 17, 2007 (Father's Day) while in Milwakee, dude rear ended me when I was stopped at a red light. In December, '07 I had to have my torn rotator cuff repaired, and what a bytch that has been...slow, painful, recovery process. I'm a be fine tho, at least the doctor said give it a year. On May 11, 2008 (Mother's Day) my eldest handsome one (pictured above) graduated from college with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Marketing. He works for Adidas/Reebok Sports Licensing Division and is the assistant to the key account manager for the upper midwest region, Milwaukee area. Some of the accounts my baby helps to manage are the Green Bay Packers, Eastbay (in Wisconsin) and Koh's Department stores. He has become a real jet setter since securing this fantastic career opportunity - traveling and setting up contracts, meeting & greeting and rubbing elbows with the big league athletes, businessmen, executives...etc. I am one proud mom and things are going quite well with my family.

Every once in a while I like to play "dress-up" and get my hair done. I have extremely long hair naturally so when I want to get it braided, I have to have the extra long extensions so as to cover my own. I really love these ponytails so I decided to try one on for size. I think it makes me look like a new person. Just having fun and shit.

Speaking of bridges........when I first found my biological family (prior post) my two sons and I decided to drive to Georgia to see them. At one point, my eldest (16 years old at the time) decided to turn the wheel over to me so he could rest. Now, this young man had just acquired his license to drive and I was already proud of him for putting that vehicle on the highway like a pro. So, it became my turn. I was doing fine until I came upon this particular bridge (which I found out a few years later it was called Nickajack Lake, Tennessee) - PANIC ATTACK!! I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would suffer like that while in the middle of this damn bridge, which seemed to go on...................forever!! I was actually STRICKEN with fear. I was doing that slobbery cry where you can't seem to catch your breath. I think I was moving at a snail's pace with traffic (including semi trucks) jetting past me at 100 mph (not really, but it sure seemed like it). Thank God, that bridge did not collapse. Both of my sons woke up and attempted to calm me, and as soon as I was able to make it to the end of that bridge, my eldest took over and got me to my mama's house in Columbus, GA with the ease and talent of a professional race car driver!!
My prayers go out to all the people of 35W in Minneapolis, my home town, my old stomping grounds. I was just on that bridge 3 days prior to its collapse.

Ok, been there – done that!! Vegas was alright.

It was record heat while we were there 120 in the damn shade!! I had a good time tho. We were there 5 days and 4 nights so we packed in every day doing sight-seeing. Went down on Freemont (the old Main Street) where they have all the lights and then they have this awesome light show on the ceiling!! It is like a canopy covering the whole block. We saw comedian LouieAnderson, who looked kinda frail and he had a cold and was limping on his hurt leg. But, he was funny as hell. We saw "O" by Cirque du Soleil and that was a show to behold. Simply magnificent!! (http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/showstickets/o/o-Las-Vegas.htm)

We went to Madame Tusaud's house of wax. Visited the Coca-Cola store and the M&M's store. The hotels were beautiful. Some had painted ceilings and floral conservatory. The Bellagio hotel had a fantastic light and water show with music. We stayed at the Treasure Island and went down stairs to the Tangerine Club and the Mist Lounge. We got in VIP because we stayed at the T.I. I wanted to go to Pure nightclub (Lindsay Lohan was supposed to be there for her birthday, lol). We went over to Jet nightclub (right across from our hotel), but the line was atrocious and they were serving “locals night”. If we had known we could use our T.I. key, we would have gotten in there VIP as well, because they are sister hotels. Other than the heat, I had a good time.

I don't gamble, so that was not fun for me. You can go broke in Vegas, but I actually came home with $200 left from my budget. I refused to spend outrageous amounts for stuff that didn't really excite me. I did a bit of shopping while there and actually found some good deals. lol If I ever decide to go back, it won't be in the summer and it may not be for another 5-10 years. I took quite a few pictures, but I am still stuck with a regular 35 mm camera and need to get my film developed. lol

This has been a rough week for me. I was involved in a car accident on Father's Day while down in Milwaukee. Actually, I was rear ended while stopped at a red light behind another vehicle and the kid was going bout 35-40 mph and just rammed me. Pissed me off!!

My eldest and most beloved son is not making good decisions in his life and I seem to take on the stress of it, which only exacerbates my injury!!

So, the delivery of a lovely bouquet of flowers at work last Friday was very much welcomed and appreciated.

The only thing is, they did not come from one I most admire. Instead they arrived "anonymous." I do not like those types of gifts, especially in my field of employment, because I imagine Mr. Stalker or Mr. Rapist or Mr. Killer - real talk. Ya'll don't hear me.

As it turns out, I did discover who "anonymous" was and even tho he is definitely NOT the man for me and would probably never receive more than 2 minutes of my time or attention, I was thankful. When I ran into him I told him how much I appreciated his act of kindness, told him he really shouldn't have, but thanked him regardless. I think the way I thanked him made him feel 10 feet tall, because as he walked away, he had this sheepish looking red-faced smile that told me he was very glad he sent me the flowers.

I said to him "if you was my man, you would be getting laid all week!" I truly believe those words surpassed any other words I could have said to him.

Viva Las Vegas!!

This girl is beyond excited and exhilarated!! I will be making my first trip to Las Vegas with 3 of my girlfriends at the end of June. I am of the impression (and the hope) that something exciting and maybe even a bit naughty might happen in Vegas. You all have undoubtedly heard the expression "what happens in Vegas......stays in Vegas" - lol

I have been shopping like a mad woman, searching for the perfect little outfits, dresses, shoes, under-mentionables, and even bought a damn cute little bathing suit (which I don't even swim) but I thought I might need one to "lounge by the pool" or "sit in hot tub" or just walk around the hotel lookin like I'm bout to "swim" hehehehehe. And, I have an appointment in Minneapolis to get my hair braided (so I don't have to mess with it if it gets "wet").

We have booked some exciting shows and are looking forward to just being wild women in Vegas. Watch out for the next episode of "older women gone wild in Vegas" - soon to come out on DVD or VHS.
