Good morning, Blog world. I have an issue that I just need to express and maybe get some assistance on how to handle. I work in an office setting as the front desk receptionist. How can I non-aggressively, but quite assertively, without being too mean about it......stop a person from coughing and spittin their germs all over me and my space. I also recently put a sticky note on my phone telling others to not pick up and/or use my phone - at all. I put on the note "caution, strep throat, don't use my phone" - you think that will get their attention??
This morning, a woman came into the office, and as soon as she approached my area, let out a series of nasty coughs and spurts and didn't even say excuse me. I just stood back away from my desk with this half-ass frown on my face, until she decided to not cough up a lung all over my floor.
I'm sure she lit up her cigarette as soon as she left the building...........

You can try spraying some Lysol around you or in their general area when someone comes by coughing and spitting. I've also known people to bring those masks (kind of like the ones that doctors wear) and put them on whenever a sickly looking or sounding person comes by.
